Harry Styles Cardigan
For my journalism capstone, I served as Editor-in-Chief, Brand Manager, and Creative Director, leading a team of over 12 students to produce an entire magazine in one semester. For my personal article, I chose to write about the Harry Styles cardigan trend that took over TikTok in 2020-2021.
Journalistic Research
My research began with gathering information about the cardigan itself. I scoured news articles, Twitter, TikTok, and the brand’s website to get a full picture of the trend. I also reached out to about 20 influencers who went viral for making the sweater and sharing it on YouTube or TikTok. I asked them about their experience creating the sweater, why they chose to make it, and their connection to Harry Styles.
Final Results
This is what ended up being my final article! I complete this while also editing the rest of the magazine. It was one of the first examples of me using an iPad to illustrate. I am still very proud of it.
