Ebb & Flow

For my senior year capstone, I served as Editor-in-Chief, Brand Manager, and Creative Director, leading a team of over 12 students to create a complete magazine in one semester. Due to the pandemic, all of our work was done virtually, collaborating through Zoom, Google Drive, and FaceTime.

Creating an Aesthetic

After our class decided on "trends of the year" as the theme for our magazine, I took on the responsibility of developing an aesthetic to match. I created a Pinterest board to provide design inspiration for the other students' work. My goal was to establish a style that was both modern and minimalist, yet easily replicable. Creating Brand Standards

To give the students a clear direction, I created templates for both double-page and single-page layouts. I also developed a style guide that outlined the brand’s mission and execution plan. You can click on the images to view the full document.

Showing the way

To help my writers, I created a tutorial highlighting the key elements of the templates they needed to follow. I used both a blank template and examples of my own work to clearly explain my design objectives.

The Final Product

We completed the final edits about two weeks after the semester ended. It was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. You can click on the image to view the full magazine.
