Jordan x UNC Advertisement
This advertisement was featured in both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball game programs, sold at home games. The assignment involved using existing UNC-branded images alongside Jordan-brand footwear, while adhering to the UNC brand guide to create an advertisement that equally represents both brands.
Sketching
A significant portion of my time was spent selecting the best photos for the project. By that point in the year, many of the images we had were already overused, so I focused on finding fresher, more unique shots. Most of the available photos of shoes were of exclusive models only accessible to our players, with the exception of a pair of Jordan Ones. I decided that the Jordan Ones would be the perfect choice for the ad. The triangle featured in both sketches was inspired by a photo of the corner of a basketball at the Dean Smith Center. I felt it was a great design element to draw attention to the shoe and create a dynamic focal point.
Final Product
Although this was one of my first projects at UNC, it remains one of my favorites. The biggest challenge from sketch to final execution was ensuring the background elements complemented the shoe without overshadowing it. I also had to be meticulous about adhering to brand standards, particularly with the typography and color choices, to maintain consistency and ensure the design aligned with both brands.
