UNC Onboarding Document
When new employees join our athletic department, many have never been to UNC or North Carolina. To help them settle in and get a head start on building their new life, we wanted to create an informative packet to guide them.
Before rebranding
Prior to that, the document was a static PDF with uneditable text and images. It featured only basic UNC elements, like seals and blocks of blue, with no cohesive branding. The content was formatted as 50 pages of text, one after another. I had to start from scratch, reworking the layout and structure to create a more engaging and visually cohesive packet.
Creating Cohesion
The first step in creating a cohesive flow for the document was designing custom backgrounds for each page. For example, I used tree rings as a tribute to the Davie Poplar Tree. Each section featured a distinct background to visually mark a shift in topic, providing a clear and engaging structure for the reader.
Final Edit
This is the final version of the document, which took about two months to complete. The project was created using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to bring it all together.
